What’s Truth?

Fake News What’s Truth?

Many debate what truth is. So, I am placing here a quote from John Piper that describes in very simple terms what’s truth and how it is different from our feelings.

If this helps you understand the difference between truth and your feelings, great. If this does not help you understand, I am afraid your mind is made-up and no amount of evidence will sufficiently explain the fundamental differences between how you feel about something – anything – and what truth really is.

Without much ado, here are the quotes:

“My feelings is not God. God is God. My feelings do not define the truth. The word of God defines the truth. My feelings are echoes and responses to what my mind perceives. And sometimes – many times – my feelings are out of sync with the truth. When this happens – and it happens every day to some extent – I try not to twist the truth to justify my imperfect feelings, but rather, I beg God: Purify my perceptions of your truth and transform my feelings so they are in sync with the truth.”

John Piper
